
Do I need to wear a wetsuit?
Yes. We recommend you wear a wetsuit as it keeps you comfortable in the water and for ease of swimming (buoyancy).
What do I need to bring?
Bathing costume, hat, camera, towel, and warm clothing.
What do you supply and can I bring my own gear?
We supply snorkels, masks, wetsuits, and flippers. You are welcome to bring your own gear.

We offer family rates (based on a family of 4 or more), and group discounts for direct bookings.
What is your minimum age a child can swim?
7 years of age. For confident younger swimmers the final decision is with our Skipper on the day.
What are the departure times?
8:30am
1:30pm
These times are subject to weather and demand.
We ask that you please report to our shop 30 minutes before departure.
We also require you confirm your booking the evening prior to your tour. Please phone 0800 354 7737 between 7:30pm - 8:00pm.
What is the duration of your tour?
Please allow for 3-4 hours.
What happens if we don't see any dolphins or whales?
In this unfortunate event we do not see dolphins or whales on our tour you are entitled to a return voucher to the value of your purchase and valid for 6 months. These vouchers are non redundable or non transferable for cash.
Do you provide refreshment?
A light snack and hot beverage is provided. On this tour you are welcome to bring your own food.
Do you provide a transport service?
Yes, we can arrange to transport you from your Whakatane accommodation to our shop. Please let us know if you require this service when you make your booking.
How big is the boat?
We use two boats for our tours.
Taniwha - 26 feet (8 metres) 300 horse power. Surveyed for 15 passengers plus crew.
Blue Sky - 32 feet (10 metres), 320 horse power. Surveyed for 25 passengers plus crew.
Do we go to White Island (Whakaari) or Whale Island (Moutohora)?
On this tour we do not land on White Island or Whale Island (Moutohorā). Our tour includes a snorkel with seals when we stop for refreshment in one of the bays of Whale Island. We do offer guided walks on the island, see Inspiration Whale Island.
Do I need special training to swim with dolphins?
Your guide will give you instructions on how to behave when in the water with the dolphins and seals. A guide will be in the water with swimmers at all times.
Will I see other marine animals on the tour?
Yes! The idea of our tours is to encounter all forms of marine wildlife, either in the water or in the sky.
What is Snorkeling?
Snorkeling is breathing through a specialised tube (snorkle) while facing downward on the surface. This snorkle allows you to breathe whilst looking down into the water. For more information on snorkeling techniques ask one our crew.
What happens in case of a medical emergency?
All our staff have medical first aid training.
